some best practices

Based on International Building Codes

Thermal Starter Strip

Why you need it:

Skipping a thermal starter strip that features an insulated return leaves the foundation of your home exposed to the elements. Over exposure to ice and water and weaken the structural integrity of a home.

How it works:

The upper overlapping siding panel has a U-shaped lip that fits tightly around the locking channel of the previously installed piece of siding and is held in place as it is installed.

Drip Cap

Why you need it:

Any window trim that has the potential to be exposed to moisture also has the potential to succumb to wood rot.

How it works:

Installed above the window or door frame instead of J-Channel, the unique angles direct moisture away from the top down.

Window & Door Casing

Why you need it:

When residing a house, J-Channel is used around all windows and doors. This often causes the windows and doors to become flush with or (even worse) recessed behind the siding. In addition to aesthetic reasons, rain, snow and insects can easily get behind J-Channel.

How it works:

Pre-Engineered TruForm window and door casings are stronger and will add dimension and curb appeal to your home. Installed above the window or door frame instead of J-Channel, the unique angles direct moisture away, from the top down. Each casing has been specially designed with a 3/4” milled wood-like profile to help maintain or improve the architectural integrity of your home.

Soffit Ventilation

Why you need it:

Most homes are in violation of residential ventilation building codes. The majority of the soffit products on the market are to blame.

How it works:

Quality Edge patented soffit products are better looking and have a higher NFA rating than any others in the industry, eliminating mold in your attic and ensuring your home meets proper ventilation codes. QE 12”, 16”, D5” and D6” soffits have an NFA of over 19, while TruBead® Soffit has an NFA rating of over 10, the highest NFA of concealed vent soffits in the market.

Pre-Engineered Fascia

Why you need it:

Our pre-engineered fascia is 120% stiffer than standard trim coil and comes in 12’ lengths that make for 20% fewer pieces and seams.

How it works:

Patent pending TruClip® is pre-engineered fascia made from a high performance aluminum .024 alloy. In addition to strength, it is proud to the soffit, providing the look of a real wood plank.

TruLine® pre-engineered fascia is pre-notched for better looking and faster application. It’s also dual-hemmed for straighter lines and easier handling.
